Ann-Marie Cerda Aaron
A founding member of the firm, Ms. Aaron, also known as "Sam," currently handles a variety of cases in litigation, with an emphasis on trial practice. From 1983 to 1987 she practiced as an assistant district attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney's office trying misdemeanor, felony and civil cases. As head of the Forfeiture Section of the district attorney's office she appeared before every civil and criminal court in Bexar County. From 1987 to 1991 she was in private practice working in pre-litigation claims and cases in litigation. In 1991, Ms. Aaron was appointed Judge of the 37th Judicial District Court. Since 1993 she has maintained a litigation practice in South Texas.
Ms. Aaron was born in San Antonio, Texas and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1982. She was educated at the University of Texas at San Antonio and received a B.A. in political science in 1979. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin in 1982. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas. In addition, Ms. Aaron has been active in other organizations including the Bexar County Women's Bar Association, as president in 1988 and Treasurer in 1986 and 1989. She is a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals.
A founding member of the firm, Mr. Quirk practiced from 1978 to 1990 with a San Antonio insurance defense firm. He continues to practice insurance defense and commercial litigation. As a first chair litigator, Mr. Quirk has experience in handling subrogation claims, defending bad faith, all types of professional malpractice, federal civil rights violations, negligence, and wrongful death claims. He formerly served as a founding director and general counsel for the San Antonio Reinsurance Company (now San Antonio Indemnity Company). He was born in San Antonio, Texas. He received a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975. He received his Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio in 1977.
Mr. Quirk is admitted to the State Bar of Texas and the Oklahoma Bar Association. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas.
Mr. Quirk has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1983. He is rated "av" by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a member of the following professional associations: San Antonio Bar Association; State Bar of Texas (Chairman, International Law Section, 1981-82; State Council Member, 1982-85); National Association of Subrogation Professionals. He has been listed in Who's Who in American Law. Mr. Quirk is also a licensed real estate broker and a REALTORÓ.
Larry A. Matthys has been practicing insurance defense litigation for 26 years. Since becoming associated with Aaron & Quirk in June, 2011 he has also handled, and tried subrogation cases. He has defended and tried numerous cases throughout South Texas, obtaining favorable verdicts and results in counties that are generally considered to be extremely Plaintiff-oriented. He began his practice in a large insurance defense firm in San Antonio, then moved to their Corpus Christi office. Later, he and some of his partners left that office to form their own nine-person firm dedicated to the defense of personal injury litigation. He has handled both a volume auto docket as well as complex cases including bad faith claims, libel and slander, premises and wrongful death claims.
Mr. Matthys is licensed to practice law in Texas and is licensed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He graduated with a BA in political science from the University of Texas, and with a JD from the University of Houston. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubble, and is board certified in personal injury trial law. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the National Association of Subrogation Professionals.
Crystal M. Wright
Crystal Wright joined the firm in 2013. Ms. Wright has practiced law in Texas since 2009. Ms. Wright is licensed in the State of Texas. Ms. Wright graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2005 and Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2009.
S.J. Lee earned her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and her Juris Doctorate at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1983. After law school, she relocated to Anchorage, Alaska, where she maintained a full time practice for 20+ years. Ms. Lee handled hundreds of cases from initial consultation through trial in a variety of areas of the law. Ms. Lee has extensive training and practice experience in mediations and collaborative law. Ms. Lee closed her successful practice in Anchorage and re-located to San Antonio, TX. She obtained her Texas Bar license in early 2012.
